The vocational-school is obligatory for apprentices. Companies employ apprentices and train them to become skilled workers. This training-system is called dual-education-system. A trainee is attending 10 weeks a year the vocational-school and the rest of the time he/she is training on the job in the company.
Teaching in school is organised in courses of 5 or 10 weeks. Only the vocation of Electrical Energy Technicians is held as an One-Year-Training (students attend school one day a week for the entire year).
The vocational school Gmunden 1 is one of the biggest vocational schools in Upper Austria. About 1300 students are trained in blocked courses or in One-Year-Training (students come from all over Austria).
Training takes place in classrooms and laboratories. Our trainers always try that students are not getting overcharged, nevertheless they provide all aspects of the job being trained. Combined with our school is a boarding-school. We take care of our students both social and educational. Our school teachers are educators in the boarding school too.
At this time it isn't possible to visit our school without living in Austria.
